A little Getaway From Lisbon – Discovering Beautiful Comporta

I have seen quite a bit of Portugal beauty by now, but there’s even more to discover. A lot more. I hadn’t been to Comporta yet. A little paradise of gorgeous beaches and rice fields not that far away from Lisbon. I was super curious about this town and area called Alcácer do Sal, so I decided to go on a little getaway last week.

I thought it was funny to notice that Comporta’s nature is significantly different than, for example, Sintra which is another area close to Lisbon. While Sintra is very humid and mossy, Comporta is really dry and sandy. I’m personally a huge fan of dryer nature – I love cacti, pine trees, sand, dunes, etc. So, I expected to fall for Comporta, and I certainly did. Also, I was surprised by the beaches and the ocean’s color of turquoise blue.

I booked my boyfriend and me one night at Sublime, one of Comporta’s best hotels in this area. They offer a wide variety of different hotel rooms, and while the bio pool suites attracted me (how cool is a biological pool?), we chose to book the cabana suite as it’s more spacy and just really stylish and beautiful. It has a private pool, where I guess we spent most time. Also, the bed was extremely comfortable and hard to wake up from to go for breakfast, lol.

As short as our little getaway was, we returned back to Lisbon the next afternoon, but decided to do a pitstop in Alcochete. A small town on the other side of Lisbon’s river the Tejo, just before the bridge Vasco da Gama. One of my Portuguese followers on Instagram told me to go here. It’s such a lovely little town with a very “tranquilo” vibe, gorgeous views on the river and mountains on the other side, and colourful houses.
