Le Pirate Boatel in Labuan Bajo – Flores

Le Pirate Boatel in Labuan Bajo – Flores

Living on the ocean: Le Pirate Beach Club makes it possible. I stayed several nights on their boatel in Labuan Bajo, Flores. It was the first time I discovered another island besides Bali or the Gili islands (after two years of living there – I know – shame on me). Labuan Bajo is a fisher town on the mainland of Flores and alongside to the famous Komodo islands. Le Pirate gives the opportunity to explore it all in such a unique way and it’s definitely one of the coolest trips I did recently.

Le Pirate took us from the mainland to the boatel which is located in a bay just ten minutes from Labuan Bajo. The rooms are completely open and you could basically jump straight into the ocean from your bed. We left the curtains open at night, so we would wake-up with a sunrise view over the sea. So insanely cool! Each room also has its individual tanning bed and stairs to enter the water. The bathroom is shared, but I never had troubles with availability. The restaurant is upstairs and the perfect spot to socialize a bit. The guests are mostly young travelers.

It was so good to spend an afternoon just on the Boatel for a bit of tanning, relaxing and water fun. We did some snorkeling from the Boatel and stand-up peddling to a secluded little island nearby. Such an exotic and pure experience!

The team of Le Pirate organized a boat trip through the Komodo islands for us. We did the “gecko trip” which shows you around the Eastern islands and stops for a snorkeling trip and a guided tour to see the Komodo dragons. It was definitely a highlight of the trip. Next time, I would probably do some more trips with the “Le Pirate Explorer” which takes you to more parts of the Komodos.
